studio training/work and Walker comp progress...
I've been training/working with Mass at Sonic for a little over a month now. It's literally the coolest thing I've done in a loooong time and have to thank Mass seriously for honoring me with the opportunity to work for him at the Studio I logged so many hours at recording over the years.
I'm learning some great stuff that i've already been putting to use "cleaning up" the [ache:emelie] demo for re-release. So far, at Sonic, I've tracked drum tracks with Dan Lumley, worked on "comping" bass tracks for the Riptides, vocal comping for the Pat Mcclimans group, and worked on editing and rough mixes for a new Queers live album that Mass and Jorge recorded last month. Can't wait to get more involved and learn more from Mass.
as to the Walker comp, I've got about 90% of the tracks i need dumped from the master and backup DAT's, but i'm still missing one DAT tape that's got the song "Pinball" from our Harmless Records split 7" with the Bollweevils, along with some of the re-mixes we did with Jeff Hansell at the Door#3 temp location for Sonic. I've been in contact with Scott Harmless and Ken Weevil and hopefully, the missing DAT will be tracked down soon, otherwise, i'll either be taking the tracks from vinyl/cassette copies or trying to come up with the cash to go in with Mass and re-mix the missing tracks from the reels. Also, I've been in contact with both Bill from Dr. Strange Records and Justin from Redline Distribution, and both have agreed to help me distro the comp if I can't find a label and end up releasing it myself!
Redline also has the remaining Harmless Records stock, so please check it out and support a great Chicago indie distributor!:

one last thing, since the [ache] STILL hasn't found a permanent drummer, i've been thinking about finally putting together another side-project, something like the Bike meets A3, sorta like what shawn and i were doing with ItKillsMe before Jeff moved back to chicago, or just something in the punk/pop-punk vein since i've almost exclusively hardcore/emocore stuff since walker. i don't know, if anyone is interested in doing a project like that and need a bass player or guitar player, just let me know!
